What's your song? Linkup

Image
Normally I'm a Judas Priest, Metallica, Ozzy kind of girl. But while indulging in one of my most favorite shows that I'll never admit I watch in public I saw this video. And I liked both the video and the song so I thought I'd share today. Link up with Goodnight Moon and check out all the other cool songs people are listening to! I think it shows an ad first - sorry about that. Also it annoys me that I can't make it smaller and it hangs off into my sidebar! I'm weird like that. Anyway - enjoy Who Says by Selena Gomez and the Scene! Until next time ~ Kris

Open Mouth Insert Feet

Yes, you read that right - feet. For some reason I couldn't hold back today in English Class.  There was a discussion about history and one kid says "I don't remember what class it was I failed it." And yep - what came flinging out of the old ladies mouth "Have you ever passed a college class?" I don't know what possessed me - I thought I was just thinking it - but this is the same kid who is taking English 102 for the 4th time.  Yes, 4th. Before I knew it - I was hearing words like "harsh" and "damn Kris". *sigh* I guess none of my peer reviews will get turned in with the third papers.... Until next time ~ Kris

I'm not crazy

Image
Well, maybe a little - but turns out I wasn't the only one having problems with blogger yesterday.  Even though I may still seem crazy to all of you, at least I don't to me anymore!  Today I can actually see my blog again which makes it much easier for me to actually preview a post! Yesterday I was going to post my phone pictures, so I guess I'll do that today.  Before Alicia kills me and such. So, even though it's not Tuesday, here's I was trying to get a picture of the horrible pollen we've been having lately - didn't work so good on the white car My niece, Nena, made this cake for her daughters 7th birthday.  Isn't she awesome?  I wish she lived  closer - maybe she could have helped with the whole Mario cake I needed for Zach's birthday! Miss Emma and Mr John Mr Matthew hanging out in every kids favorite  place - the magical cardboard box! Miss Emma - I swear she's eating the favorite pop tarts of the whole family brown sugar

What?

Honestly, I don't know if this is going to show - but when I went looking for my blog today it was gone.  I guess I'm just trying to post this so I can see if it makes my blog magically reappear.  There's always hope, right? Until next time ~ Kris

I Cross My Heart

Image
Time for What's YOUR Song? link up at Goodnight Moon Today I picked another oldie, and not just because I don't really know any current music! This is in honor of our anniversary yesterday - it was the song we danced to at our wedding.  Oddly, neither of us listened to country music then.  Weird. Check out the link and play along - or at least go listen to some cool music! Until next time ~ Kris

~Remembering~

I woke up and just lay there for a minute.  Even though my eyes had just opened I was already on edge.  Rolling over I looked up at the skylight above my bed. "Daddy, is it snowing ?" I hear a long sigh and an ever so quiet "Damn it" before I get an answer - "Yes Krissy, it is." Those were the first few minutes of my day 15 years ago.  My wedding day - the day I married my awesome man. From the beginning our marriage was, well, different. We got married in Salt Lake City (even though neither are from there), and we had less than a week together before he had to go back to Arizona and I had to go back to Germany. We didn't even start living together until November that year. We've had a lot of separations over the years. But we've had an awesome life together. We've seen some amazing (and not so amazing!) places. We have the most wonderful son in the whole world. We have built and continue to build a great life. I don't ha

Pinewood/Powderpuff Derby

Image
Yesterday our pack had the Pinewood Derby for the boys and the Powderpuff Derby for the girls.  Why didn't I post about it yesterday?  Well...because the whole thing stressed me out so bad I came home and took a Percoset.  Yep - that's the truth. O.K. well, I forgot my regular camera, so I had to use my phone - and I didn't get any 'action' shots, but I did take some of the cars and I thought I'd share. This was Zach's car - he didn't win anything boo Isn't this the cutest thing - some people are so creative This one was named Purple Haze yep - that's why I included it You would think this would be slow Nope - it took 3rd place in the women's race and most unique! You knew I'd have to show you a picture of mine finished! Felicia ended up naming Pink Commando It took favorite in the womens but was too slow to win a race! Have a great week! Until next time ~ Kris

Weekly Wrap Up

Image
Before I share the few, sad pictures I took this week I wanted to share this story... Today after class I had an advisement appointment.  It went well, I planned out my schedule for fall, and got a definite when I should take the PRAXIS I. It was all good and I walked away with a plan - which I need.  After that I went to Zach's school to help with the book fair.  I love the book fair - I spend way too much money - but I like helping at the school.  Being around the kids really gives me a feel for what it will probably be like when I'm a teacher.  Today was crazy completely insane. First there was an "Intruder Alert Drill".  I've never even heard of these - anyone else?  Hmm so it goes like this - "There's an intruder" so the kids scrunch down into the corners (or behind book shelves) in case someone comes in with a gun and starts shooting.  OMG really?  Really?  I can't even think about that right now.  I have way too much to say.  Immediate

What's YOUR Song?

Image
Today I thought I'd link up with Goodnight Moon . You pick a song you've been listening to lately and post it. Since I don't listen to a TON of music in the car (or anywhere else) because it interferes with every song that pops into my head that makes the soundtrack of my life I decided to post my favorite song. I guess this explains a lot.  Who doesn't love them some Van Halen though?  Even if you're not partial to this particular song (which you should be - because it's awesome!) Even if you don't want to play, you should head over to Goodnight Moon's site and check out some of the other songs. Until next time ~ Kris

What's on My Phone? 3.15.11

Image
I know, it's almost NOT Tuesday anymore!  I think I'm going to make in the nick of time here on the east coast though! Since Miss Jessica is taking a blogging break there is no link up this week - but my niece would flog me if I didn't post my phone pics.  Why?  Because all the pictures this week came from her (except two - and one of those came from my other niece!).  So, without further ado (because I need to make that midnight deadline!), it's time for This is my other nieces tattoo in the works it's not done yet - she will send me another  when it's finished.  My nephew (yes, her brother) is doing the work.  That's family love and  trust guys! This one's been on my phone for a while It's the only picture not from my nieces this week. This is Mr. Gabe - he's my friends son and he&

Military Spouse Survey

I found this little survey on Moore To Love .  As it happens in the blog world she found it someplace else.  I thought it would be fun so I decided to do it too. 1. How long have you been a military wife?   Hubby and I will be married for 15 years later this month.  As far as being a military wife that's not active duty 3 years. 2. What branch of service is your husband?   Air Force 3. Active/Reserve?  Active 4. What is his job?  Fire Truck Mechanic 5. How many deployments have you gone through?  Wow, really? Honestly, I don't know the answer - a whole lot :-) 6. ACU's or Class A's on your man?  Have you seen the AF Blues?  ABU's all the way. 7. What do you like about being a military wife?   Um, this is hard - I would love being married to my husband even if wasn't in the military.  I think it's cool when people thank him for serving our country. 8. Do you live on base?   Nope.  We bought our house when we moved here. 9.  What is your favo

~Blog Dare Update~

Today I thought I'd give an update of how I'm doing on the blog dare. In a moment of utter insanity I signed up for a blog dare where I am supposed to blog every day for 2011.  Every.Single.Day.  hmmm - what was I thinking? I think I've been doing a pretty good job.  This will be post 61 and today is day 72.  So, I've missed just under two weeks. To be fair, I was really sick.  I guess if I had my crap together I would write my posts before and schedule them.  But, my blog doesn't work that way - I like blogging about whatever takes my fancy. I would like to say that since I have missed and therefore will not complete the dare it's been easy to go back to my blogging when I feel like it instead of every day.  That's so how I like it! Oh, I'll still keep track - because I'm anal like that - and you know I'll just have to know how I ended up doing by the end of the year!  But now that the pressures off, I can enjoy blogging again! Un

My Super Sensitive Little Man

Most of you already know my little man - he's my miracle - the child I was never supposed to be able to have.  Ha Doctor's you were WRONG!! Anyway, my little man is uber-hyper sensitive.  Maybe because he's been raised mostly by mom (thanks AF!), maybe because he's half uber-hyper sensitive me.  Who knows, but he is and I love him for it. A couple times this year little man has gotten in the car after school and shared how 'terrible' his day was.  Why honey? Answer One - "Did you know that people sold other people as slaves?  They just split those families up - took kids away from their moms.  How could people do that to each other?  Why would they think that's even a good idea?" Answer Two - "Today we learned about the Trail of Tears.  It made me cry.  I don't understand how people can treat other people so bad." I have a love/hate relationship with these conversations.  The world has been, and currently still is, full of h

~ Fork in the Road Time ~

I'm always coming to a fork in the road.  Sometimes it's an easy fork - grocery shopping today or can I hold out one more day?  Little forks (salad forks, if you will) are the easy peasy decisions that I make every day. Paper due Monday?  I'll write it Sunday. Truck needs gas?  I'll wait until tomorrow - as long as that silly light doesn't go on! It's not that I'm a procrastinator, o.k. maybe it is a little but only about small things. Big decisions I tend to make without very much thought.  When I decided to homeschool Zach I only had to convince Erik and bam!  I was doing it.  These are the decisions that should require more thought - but when I decide I want to (or am going to) do something - that's it. This past July, in a moment of shear frustration and aggravation I sent Zach back to 'regular' school.  That journey has been somewhat chronicled here, so most of you know I'm not thrilled with the public school system.  But, I wa

What's on Kris' Phone 3.8.11

Image
Time for my Tuesday ritual of  Before I forget - Lent starts tomorrow.  Being the non-practicing Catholic that I am I have decided to not give anything up this year.  I figure I already gave up my sanity - and I really liked that!! OK - so What's on my phone this week?? Today I'm starting with my niece. Not the niece who makes the gorgeous kids, but her sister who could also make gorgeous kids if she should ever decide she wants to have kids (or give up her cute little shape!) Oh Matthew, the internet is forever! Someday this picture will come back to haunt you I'm glad I could play some part in your  future embarrassment!  But really, you should blame your mom - she's the one who sent me the picture! Friday was 'crazy hair day' at Zach's school.  I know, Zach has crazy hair every day - but we did it up nice and special for the occasion of 'official crazy hair day'! the finished look up close Mad professor?  Naw, just pulling his hair

~ All My Years of Dorkiness ~

Image
What can I say?  I'm a dork.  I like to think I'm the coolest dork you'll ever meet - but still, a dork is a dork. I'm good with that.  Surely, I knew it my whole life but have just begun to realize embracing my dorkiness is the way to go. Apparently on FaceBook this weekend it was "upload pictures of Kris at her dorkiest".  Ah, memories..... So, lest you all be under the impression that I've just turned dorky after turning 40, I thought I'd share the 'old school' Kris pictures that are going to cause all my FB friends to delete me because that's a better choice than being associated with me!! Let's start with this winner ~ Circa the early 90's.  Yes, I'm trying to be domesticated by my sexist, nazi supervisor.  You can't tell, but my hair is pulled back in a banana clip (remember those?) and dang - my bangs are outta regs like you wouldn't believe!  I guess that's one point to being stationed with men wh

Weekly Wrap Up

Image
Ok, well, more like a monthly wrap up!  With all the sickness flinging around, and mid-terms, I have a lot of pictures I've never posted.  So, grab something to drink (and eat!) it's gonna be big one folks!! Science Night (Bubbleology Part 2) Here are some pictures from my camera (not my phone!) from science night.  Dang, those only took me like a month and half to download!! Next up a Cub Scout Project.  My boys made a diorama from scraps of stuff we had laying around the house.  Zach picked a playground to make.  He did a good job with a little bit of help - mamma made the slide! So, no more slacking on pictures!  Or at the very least no more slacking for over a month! Until next time ~ Kris
