A little too quiet!

Today starts Zach's second week of "regular" school. I had a friend who called it "real" school - but honestly, I don't agree that homeschool isn't 'real' school (for obvious reasons!), so we call it regular school in this house! Last week went fine - of course there was no homework - so we'll see how he really feels by the end of the week! He did have a project - to make a 'History of Me' box. The stuff he picked to put in there was so funny! He and Erik decorated it, Zach wrote the sentences, and today it went off with him. We'll see how good we are at following directions public school style!! The only two bad things I've discovered so far - getting up early (night owl here!) and waiting in the pick up line after school! If he didn't get so sick with stop and go traffic I would put him on the bus. Ah, maybe next year! Zach is not an outgoing person - he never has been. That was one of the complaints I used to g...

Anti-Procrastination Day

As a (sometimes) follower of FLYLady, I notice things - like Wednesday's are Anti-Procrastination Days. These are days you do stuff that you've been putting off. Well we all know I'm awesome at putting stuff off and since Zach is in CORE for 3 1/2 hours I figured I could do something. But WHAT?? Where to start?? So I listed three things I've been putting off: 1. Updating my blog 2. Buying Erik's Birthday Present 3. ANYTHING the FLYLady has on her list for the day So, at least I'm updating my blog. Check. Since today is Erik's birthday, I guess I couldn't put off the present buying anymore. Check. Laundry room and bathroom week. Check. Woo Hoo! By the way - if you ever have an opportunity to buy, rent, or steal a house with or without a laundry room always choose with! I didn't. 'Nuff said. CORE. I'm a little confused about Zach's CORE Class this time. I signed him up for Phonics and Spelling Camp. It seems like more of a ...

Random Ramblings

I think overall, I had a pretty productive couple of weeks. You guys know how hard it is for me to be productive - but I've been trying!! I got Zach's curriculum ordered for next year. Some stuff I already have (math, history) so it really didn't end up costing me as much as I had anticipated. Woo-Hoo!! Spending less than you expected is always a good thing! Plus, April was the month for all the stuff I ordered to either be on sale, or have free shipping. That free shipping stuff rocks!! I also took the time to schedule out for the stuff we have, so I only have to schedule out a few things when they come in. Maybe I will get a summer break after all! Paint color has been picked for the classroom/playroom and Zach's bathroom. I think Lowe's is having a rebate on Olympic paint this month. I'll have to check. For the record - I really hate the Valspar, but it seems the colors we like are all Valspar. I'm taking my paint chips to the Olympic side o...

Things Accomplished...and not

I'm pretty proud of myself. I actually did get at least one load of laundry done every day last week (except for Sunday!). That's a huge accomplishment for me! I also started unloading the dishwasher every morning and I made our bed every day. Whew! Good habits starting!! Sadly, I didn't get the classroom/Zach's new bedroom painted this weekend. I really wanted to, but I walk in there and look at all the stuff and think "ugh"! Come on, I'm a curriculum hoarder - there is so much in there that I will never use but I can't bring myself to get rid of 'just in case'! I'm going to have to do it though and quit procrastinating. I have the paint, I have the stuff to paint, I need to get it done. Plus that will be one room down that will done and organized - then I just need to keep up with it. Funny story - we went to Charleston for my nephew's birthday party and their bathroom is painted about the same color as our new paint in the ...
