6 months down

Well, we are six months into 2017 - I can't believe it! Zach has finished his sophomore year. I've started saving for all those "senior things" because I know that will be here before I know it. He did very well and I'm proud of him for taking on brick and mortar after so many years of homeschooling. That kid is pretty awesome. Some of my most recent crochet projects: A temperature blanket for here in SC. This is only part of it - I think part of April and May. A temperature blanket for my niece and her wife. This one is for the first year they were married. Currently it is a very late anniversary present (and not done!)  Something for me - a shawl Something else for me - a wrap It's hard to tell but this yarn is metallic (so it's pretty sparkly!) My first attempt at a crochet sun hat It turned out too big!! Another thing I've been doing since mid April is virtual challenges/races. I found a site called Yes.Fit  and I real...

{October Already?}

This year has flown by. I can't believe it's already October. It's been an interesting last few weeks though. Two weeks ago I had to have an emergency appendectomy. My very first surgery ever. Since it's October it's also one of my favorite times of the year - Pumpkin Spice Time (yes, it's capitalized around here)! So I had  to try my hand at some pumpkin spice soap. I used pumpkin ale (which we thought would taste good, but doesn't) instead of water in my newly developed recipe. I had to let it sit out for a couple days to go flat first. It always looks gross when your s...

Ups and Downs

In October, my husband quit smoking. I'm not a quitter though. At least that's what I always said when someone would ask me about quitting. But, I decided to give it a shot after the incessant nagging from my boys (and the always stuffed sinus', and the nagging sore throat, you get the idea). So, I went to my Doctor - he always said "Whenever you're ready call and we'll make a plan." So we made a plan: Chantix O.K. I don't know if any of you have used this. One of the big side effects is "vivid dreams". That's the big one everyone talks about. Another side effect, "may cause difficulty sleeping". Bingo! That would be the side effect I got. After a week on them I would have welcomed any dream - vivid or other-wise. Even taking my sleeping pills offered no sleep. So, off the Chantix - I need a plan B though. I didn't have a plan B. I'm most certainly not a cold turkey kind of girl. Hubby used Wellbutrin (which I tr...
