Embrace the Camera 6.30.11

Image
Last week I spent some time pulling all those little memory cards out of cameras and downloading the pictures. It's absolutely amazing what you find! I think I found some pictures from two years ago at Disney! But those are not Embrace photos - they are just of Zach! I did find this little number on Zach's camera card though. He is much better at snapping those arms outstretched pictures than I am. Maybe his arms are longer? Who knows? I'm not even sure when this picture was taken - sometimes I'm a bad photo downloader! Don't forget to get yourself in the picture! Then link up with Emily over at The Anderson Crew . Until next time ~ Kris

What's Your Song? 5.12.11

Time to link up with Amber at Goodnight Moon for what's your song. Once again I had no problems picking this week. I was out running errands and heard this song somewhere  that I was. It made me remember that I really loved this song and it was released at a time when I needed to cut someone bad out of my life. So it was a perfect song for me then. I still love it - you've got to at least chair dance when you hear it! Enjoy! Until next time ~ Kris

The last song link-up for June. My son may think time is dragging - but me - no way - this year is just cranking along at a much faster pace than I'd like! I love linking up with Amber at Goodnight Moon on Thursdays - I love checking out the music everyone is listening to. I also have a blast trying to pick something each week. Today though, I picked a song that used to be my ring tone. Bring Me to Life by Evanescence - I love this song! *disclaimer - I thought I posted this song before but couldn't find it. If I did I'm sorry! Old people - you have to watch out for us, we tend to repeat ourselves!* Until next time ~ Kris

Visitors!

This past weekend we were lucky enough to have the Ohio Caddick's stop by for a couple of nights. Shannon is awesome - she's going with three kids from Ohio to SC, GA, and Texas (well, of course back to Ohio too!). Safe travels Shannon!! So, while we had the cousins together in one place you know I had to take pictures. This is Adda Paige. She's growing up so fast - and smart....dang that girl is bright!  This is Kayla. She's really not as mean as she looks BUT she is 13!!  Austin and Adda Uncle Erik having a tea party with Paiger. And here's the group Kayla, Austin, Zach and Paiger Good lookin' kids, huh? So sad to see them leave - but we are going to go "up north" and visit them after I get out school. Yay! Until next time ~ Kris

I can't believe it's Thursday already! Time to link up with Amber at Goodnight Moon who is kind enough to host even though she's on vacation! This video is a little hard to watch but you can't beat the group - ABBA - one of my very favorites. They just sound so good. Enjoy. Until next time ~ Kris

Week 1 Day 2

After a moment of not being able to move yesterday, I knew I had to keep plugging along. So today I did the next day (which is the same as day one). I ran the first four intervals, walked 5 through 7, and ran 8. Yay! that makes one more running interval than last time! I also managed to do two miles in 2 less minutes. Believe me, my time is not stellar, but I'm proud of that too. After I did the two miles for the C25K I walked one more mile. So today I actually did three miles. It took me almost an hour (58 minutes - I was walking pretty slow by the end!).  Now I know, a 5K is 3.1 miles - but the route I walk (around my neighborhood) is actually 1.1 miles - so I figure if I can do a decent time around here I should be fine come October. Some things I learned today - it doesn't matter if you get out there at 8 AM or 10 AM (like I did Monday) it's still stinking hot!! Don't let the older man who's been walking for about a year get you down. Someday I'll be abl

Week 1 Day 1

Image
Today I tried the first session of couch to 5K. I'm not going to lie - I didn't make it all the way through in the intended manner. It was supposed to be 8 running intervals, I only made it running through 4. Then I had to switch to brisk walk in place of running. But I did finish the whole thing and for that I'm proud of myself. Why am I suddenly doing this? Well, first of all because of this girl right here She's my friend Shannon - and doesn't she look AMAZING? And she's had three kids. Yes, she's a good motivational tool (not that you're a tool Shan - not in that way!!). Another reason was the conversation I had with this girl on Saturday The girl in the pink shirt (obviously) - she started the Couch to 5K on Saturday. We are going to keep each other going so we can attempt a 5K in October (yes Theresa - October, not November like I thought - sorry!). But mostly for these guys right here Because I love them and I want to be around for a long

Time to hear what everyone is listening to. This week, Goodnight Moon has a new button! Pretty Cool, huh? I can't get it to actually work though - so just enjoy looking at it. This week I picked a song that I've been banned from singing by my husband because I sing like Scuttle (remember him) Any-hoo... my choice this week also includes an awesome video Come on - a video with Jon Bon Jovi AND Kiefer Southerland? Yep - you guessed it Blaze of Glory! Enjoy Until next time ~ Kris

Was it a tornado?

Image
Last night some storm rolled through our neighborhood. Something big - either just big wind and rain or possibly a twister. I've not been able to find anything on the twister - so I'm guessing just wind and rain - and lots of it.  Here's what we saw this morning:  That's our trampoline, wrapped around a tree  Part of a tree that fell and hit our shed  There used to be a play set behind this house Our shed now has a hole in the roof It could have been a lot worse - at least it's only stuff that was damaged. Let the cleanup begin!! Until next time ~ Kris

Hello Summer Assignment

Last week while I was in Borders pre-ordering the next Diary of a Wimpy Kid for Zach we ran into Mrs. Pryor, his reading teacher from this past year. First, this was the first time I've ran into any of his teachers outside of school, which is odd considering this town really isn't that big. But she mentioned a reading list and book report that was due the first day of 5th grade. Hmm I hadn't heard about this so I scrounged through all of Zach's paperwork that I anally kept (what do you do with schoolwork folks? really, I want to know) and found it! I was already making him read 15 minutes a day, but he got to choose - now he has to pick two books off a list, AR test on them both when school starts again, and write a book report on one. What was the first thing he said "We may as well be homeschooling again - you always made me do schoolwork during the summer." Yep - that's my boy. Until next time ~ Kris

MilSpouse Friday Fill-in #44

Image
Once again, who's been slacking for more than a month on this? Um yeah. So, it's time to link up with Wife of a Sailor  and learn some interesting things about other wonderful MilSpouses. 1.  When you vacation what type of vacation do you like to take (beach, historic, adventurous, food oriented, etc.)?   submitted by  Megan Dub-Yuh Well, we love going to DisneyWorld and Hilton Head so I guess some adventure and some beach.  2.  What is your best memory associated with a song (you know we all have tons!)?   submitted by  Ramblings of a Marine Wife My song would be 'I Cross My Heart' by George Strait - that's the song we danced our first dance to at our wedding so it holds the most special memories.  3.  If you had six months with no obligations or financial constraints, what would you do with your time?  submitted by  Married to the Army No obligations actually sounds a little boring. What would I be all OCD about if I wasn't figuring how to pay off

I really wanted to post another Hootie song, because I know how much Amber (and everyone else!) enjoys saying "Hootie". I didn't pick a Hootie song - or even Darius Rucker (but I will because I love his voice). Nope, today I went back in the way back machine again (what's new, huh?) and picked one from a band I was lucky enough to see in concert - on New Year's Eve - in their hometown of Sacramento. Um, yeah, it was the second best concert I've ever seen (Judas Priest will always reign on stage!) So here is offering for this wonderful Thursday - Modern Day Cowboy by Tesla. After you air guitar and headbang (and perhaps laugh at the hair), link up with Amber at Goodnight Moon and see what everyone else is listening to today. Until next time ~ Kris

Vampires, Werewolves, and Zombies?

Image
In between reading and studying this weekend I watched (finally) Eclipse. I've read all the Twilight books and I always find the books much better than the movies - but I watched it anyway because, well, Erik was gone doing some Boy Scout thing and he doesn't like them. So, it left me thinking (as it does after every movie and all the books) REALLY? I mean seriously - how in the world is this a better choice than this I mean is Bella blind? And shouldn't the fact that your boyfriend has no body heat to warm you up during s snowstorm be some kind of indication that he may in fact, be a lousy choice? Really girls - you know you put your cold feet on your man during the winter! Normally I wouldn't even get involved, after all it's not real. But the fact that a blind person could see who's hotter annoys me. I mean they could have picked someone ugly to play Jacob - know what I mean? So I've always felt kind of sorry for Jacob - poor guy can't get a

Embrace the Camera 6.2.11

Image
I've not seen the link up today for Embrace the Camera , but I'm going to post mine anyway. When it comes up on my reader I'll come back and add the link. I can only guess that Mrs. Anderson is still feeling quite icky. Hope you feel better soon! I guess I kind of cheated because I held onto these pictures from last weeks promotion ceremony. It's not very often we get pretty decent pictures though.  You can't tell but I'm wearing a dress {hehe don't you love how that 'conveniently' got left out?} folks - I'm wearing heels.... I guess it won't be too long before he's actually  taller than me! Until next time ~ Kris

June and it feels like July or August down here. The humidity sure is jacking up my cute do! But we can all enjoy some great songs with Amber and friends at Goodnight Moon . Go have a listen to all the wonderful music other bloggers listen to and for goodness sake stay inside when the heat index is in the triple digits! No old school this week. This song is for my son who is finally out of school today and has been saying "I can't wait until summer" since January! Zach - now it's Summertime!! Until next time ~ Kris

One More Award

Image
Zach got one more award for the year. Believe me, it was one that shocked and surprised all of us. Highest Average in Reading for the 4th Grade! I know, my son, the non reader kicked some ass in reading this year! We couldn't be more proud. Here are some pictures from the festivities last night. My camera is a big piece of junk (we really need a new one) but it's all we could get before it started acting stupid.  Waiting is the hardest part  Making a 'mirror'  "Looking Good"  Walking the stage Super Job! Next year he wants to get the Science one too! That's my boy!  Until next time ~ Kris
