MilSpouse Fridays

Time for the MilSpouse Friday Linkies

First up is Mil Spouse weekly round up.  This week it's hosted by Hillary at The Whole FamDamily.  People, if you haven't checked out her blog yet you must!  It's awesome, she's awesome.  Just do it - for realz folks.  I'm still not 100% clear on the directions (sometimes I'm slow) but this is my favorite post for the week - My Dream Place to Live.

The second linky is MilSpouse Friday Fill-In (#30 no less) hosted by Wife of a Sailor.  She asks the questions, you answer. it's fun.  You can learn a lot about your fellow bloggers, which is always uber nice. This weeks questions were all submitted by other MilSpouse Bloggers, which is also uber cool.

1. What is your favorite MilSpouse blog (not including Wife of a Sailor who we all love, or your own)?
Wow, I don't know if I have a favorite.  I read a lot of blogs, and I didn't even realize most of them were milspouses until after I started reading them.  I can't go a day without reading The Imperfectly Perfect Family of Five.  But that's not because she's a milspouse, it's because she's my bloggy bestie and mentor (surprise!).  I wouldn't know her if it weren't for the AF, so bonus!  Right now, I'm loving Just a Geek Named Jess.  We are both doing this 30 days of books thing, and it's awesome.  But I don't really have a favorite.

2. What are your favorite perks about your spouse being deployed (we all know there are perks)?
Um, wow.  I guess the only perk is I don't have to cook every night.  Zach can live off mac and cheese and chicken nuggets, and I'm good with Ramen Noodles or TV dinners.  When Erik is home he actually expects me to cook (sheesh, can you believe the nerve of some people?!)

3. How long did you date your husband before getting engaged? Married?
We went on our fist date May 25th 1994.  He asked him to marry him on February 14th 1995 and we got married March 23rd 1996.  So that's what, 20 months from first date to wedding?  We would have loved to get married on the 25th of May but my Dad's birthday is the 26th and my sisters is the 27th.  Seemed like overload.  Off the subject - sorry.

4. What do you think your spouse would do if he wasn’t in the military?
He would be a chef.  Years ago I would have said mechanic, but he loves to cook and he's very good at it.  That's why I don't understand why he wants to eat my slop!  If you had asked five years ago I would have said a mechanic like he does in the AF.

5. If you could talk to the Secretary of Air Force what is one suggestion you would like to bring to their attention in order to improve the lives of military families?

Please change the way the Youth Center and the CDC charge.  An E-4 married to an E-5 do not make the same as a E-7 married to a E-8 (or any other rank combination you can think of - O's married to O's; E's married to E's, E's married to O's) yet I remember paying as much as they did every week for daycare.  That's why I rarely used base daycare.  Other than that, you know, we have a pretty good life.

Until next time ~ Kris

  1. Your husband would be a chef but you end up cooking for HIM? Hmmmm. Maybe you need a break from the kitchen.

  2. Oh, ramen noodles... is there any more perfect comfort food? In college, I acquired the habit of cracking an egg and stirring it in for a poor man's egg drop soup. Bonus: I could tell myself I was getting a little protein, thus making it marginally more nutritious. ;-)

I love your comments and I read them all. I'm not very good at replying to them though. It's one of my many downfalls. I hope you'll leave some anyway!
