My Blogging Faux Pas
Betcha didn't even know I knew such fancy words, huh?!! And the spell check line isn't there so I know I spelled it right! Before I get to the big boo-boo though - you may have noticed I changed my blog background. Count goal #6 out of the running. I did last five whole days though. Good on me!
I wasn't sure what I was going to blog about today - I honestly was beginning to think I made a huge mistake trying to blog every day and I'm only five days into 2011! But then some stuff happened today - a lot of stuff. One is in a word document simmering and I may pull that out later, but this is what caught my interest today.
It was a twitter conversation (a tweetversation?) about blog comments. Not just about making them, but how you're supposed to comment when someone comments on your blog. Wha? Really? Hmm That's totally my bad.
I don't do that. I don't expect people to comment back when I make a comment. However, Kara at Everyday Exciting did - and I appreciated it because I was uber confused about the amount of snow that I thought was in Seattle. After the dusting we got here in SC I was pretty sure that much snow in Seattle meant they Mayans were off by about a year on the long count calendar.
But I rant, as usual. My point is, I rarely comment back on comments. I never expect anyone to comment back when I make a comment. I just want to say "hey that's a beautiful shot of the mountains" or "those boots rock" or whatever. Ya know? Sometimes, no matter how much you look at a picture I'm still left speechless. Like this offering from Alida at Blackpurl's knitpickings - seriously check it out...it's a green orange. I'm not kidding. And although the picture totally enchants me, it also leaves me speechless.
So, if I have offended anyone by not commenting back I apologize. I will still handle comments the same way though.
Which begs the question - if you know about it, is it still a faux pas?
and that's life on planet caddick

I don't always leave comments either. Sometimes we are simply lucky if we find enough minutes in the day to actually blog, and read half the people we enjoy following.
ReplyDeleteSince your post was on comments, I thought I would leave one though! lol
lol I have been blogging every day since I started. I actually write several blogs at a time when I'm feeling inspired so that I have something to fall back on when I'm not. :)
ReplyDeleteso here's my question to your question... how do you know if someone commented on your comment?
ReplyDeleteGood post... I need to start blogging at least once a week...
Girl, you are awesome! I am not always good at commenting back, but I like to clear up confusion as I am usually there myself.
ReplyDeleteIs there a norm for commenting back? I'm pretty new at this blog thing and don't want anyone to think I am ignoring them... I appreciate everyones comments and want them to know that. :)
I comment back on a comment if there is something to comment about. Life's too short to hold meaningless conversations.
